Most of us hold on to valuable memories in a variety of ways. Some people keep a journal, others organize photo albums and, with today’s technology, e-mails, blogs and videos are other great ways to record details. And...scrapbooking is not always about the photos. It’s about memories in general, and sometimes memories are about something intangible. Creating a scrapbook page without documented memories or photos may seem like a daunting task, but it’s really quite freeing. In this type of page, simply let your memories be the stars; display these memories through recreations of the emotions, smells and touches that overwhelm you when you recall this special moment.  

Thinking outside the box can lead to a whole new world of possibilities. You can use just about anything in place of a normal photograph or in addition to a photograph. Next time you are rummaging through your photos, look for memorabilia to use in your layout. Keep in mind, this memorabilia may come from places other than your own stash, the internet holds a world of royalty free memorabilia that will fit any theme imaginable, and here at CottageArts, we may also have just the ticket (no pun intended) you're looking for. In the sample layout, I wanted to pay tribute to my mother’s pumpkin pie (which makes my mouth water just thinking about). I had no photos of her pies, only the recipe to work with, so I used a painted pumpkin paper and nugget from our Pumpkin Page Pak.
