Beth's Corner - Resolution Results

You're All That: Boho Funk Page Pak, Study Buddy Pak

Today, I was riding the city bus into downtown to finish my Christmas shopping. My mind was racing about what to buy for who and the last thing I wanted was a chatty neighbor. But, chatty he was as he opened his laptop explaining about his photography business and began to share some wonderful photo editing tips. I was enthralled and before I knew it, I had his business card in hand and was being invited to a photo editing class the first week of January.

Holiday Blessings: Vintage Santa Page Pak, Fall Ribbons (shows her creative photo editing skills)

Wow, really…January? Soaking up as much knowledge as possible about photo editing just happens to be one of my New Year's goals!

Now the trick to any New Year's resolution is to achieve results. We’ve all experienced the sudden burst of motivation that comes in early January as holiday indulgences make their way to our waistline and we are suddenly faced with a new figure in the mirror.

Unfortunately, the desire to make positive changes is notoriously short lived, if not completely forgotten by February. Choosing the right resolution for the right reasons is key in achieving results.

Give some thought to what you really want and why you want it. What benefits do you hope to achieve?

Upon riding the bus home, I pulled out a pen and paper and decided to create a plan for my photo editing goals and formally commit to the plan by writing it down, step by step.

The key to constructing a good plan is to identify the exact steps that you will take toward accomplishing your goal and assigning due dates to those steps.

My first date towards my goal in January has already been set thanks to the photographer I didn't even want to talk to. There are opportunities around every corner, we just have to see them!

Perhaps your goal is to organize your photos, begin a new scrapbook album or finish an old one. Whatever your scrapping goals are this new year, remember to acknowledge even partial success.

Getting your photos out from boxes under the bed and onto a few scrapbook pages is cause for celebration, even if your original goal was to finish the entire book. Keep in mind that missed due dates might simply mean that your plan may have been too aggressive or your environment has changed; simply adjust your plan, continue to move forward and don’t give up!
