Flower Power

No matter the occasion , flowers play a huge role in our photos and our memories; happy moments holding wedding bouquets, sad moments filled with sympathy flowers or simple moments of a child’s dandelion bouquet. Each memory and each flower marks a significant moment in time that we treasure and want to last. Saving a corsage from a high school prom or first gift of roses is a perfect way to preserve some of those memories. If you choose to use your dried florals in your scrapping, be sure to place them in a protective sleeve before placing them on your pages. Scanning them is another manner to preserve their impression on us.

Embellishing your pages with imitation blossoms to relive those lost moments and revive the vibrant, beautiful hues is easy using most any of our digital page paks, as we love flowers! You will find daisies, sunflowers, poppies, tulips and many more pleasing flowers to build mountains of beautiful arrangements on your layouts and greeting cards. And as always, you can reuse your digital stash, duplicate them, alter their size and opacity, to create a wonderful assortment.

Whether you are creating a floral arrangement or using a single stem, placement on your page is important. Achieving the optimum effect from your flowers, yet keeping the focus on your photos is the primary goal when choosing the placement. It is usually best to begin designing your page with photos and papers arranged, and then add the decorative elements. Use your flowers as simply an accent or use them to cover unwanted portions of your photos. In the sample layout I have created, the darling photo of grandma and granddaughter was overpowered by a large floral arrangement in the center of a table, so I chose to add additional florals around this to appear as if it was intentional.

Use your imagination when building your arrangements and remember there are no rules! Mix and match realistic blooms with the more abstract to create interest and use some of the wonderful stems, leafs, etc. as additional accents.
