Using the Selection Tool

Our new Page Pak, Candy Shop, features a bonus AlphaSet contained in one PNG file. This decreased the file size and also the number of files. For those new to digital scrapbooking, and those unfamiliar with using tools in your image editor, below is a quick tutorial using the Selection tool to copy and paste the letters/numerals you need in a layout.

Note: steps shown are using Adobe Photoshop Elements 3. Other image editors would be follow similar steps.

1) Open CandyShop AlphaSet.png file (choose File>Open) from the Candy Shop Page Pak download set:

2) Choose Rectangular Marquee Selection Tool:

3) Using your mouse, click and drag a rectangle around letter of your choice:

4) Choose Edit>Copy

5) Open paper or template of choice

6) Choose Edit>Paste to paste the letter on your layout.

7) Move to desired location and re-size (using Move tool), if needed (increasing size decreases quality):

8) Repeat for other letters (you can move the already selected rectangle over another letter/numeral and press Edit>Copy). Ctrl-D (Windows) removes the current selection.

Tip: Be sure to select just one letter without any residual from a neighboring letter by zooming in and getting a closer view of exactly what is being selected.
