How to
give your fiber an added bit of realism

Bend them, Shape Them, Any Way You Want Them!

Many times the page paks and CDs here at CottageArts.net contain fibers that are, for the most part, straight. By just adding them to the page they have a taut look, which can make for some great looking strung layouts! But, to add some variation to your fiber, you can simply bend and twist it!  Most image editor's have a Wave filter.  The instructions below use Adobe Photoshop/Photoshop Elements.

Start by adding your ribbon to your layout. Choose Filter>Wave. In the dialog you can choose how much of a wave or bend you would like to give your fiber. In the preview box you can see a preview to help gauge the strength of the wave. Most often, a slight wave can make a great difference for an added touch of realism.

In the example below, I have used the yarn from the Lilacs Page Pak, the Gingham Ribbon from the Pumpkin Patch Page Pak.  I gave each a slight bend with the Wave Filter. I added the finishing touch of attaching Snowflakes from the Simply Shabby CD.  Background paper is from this month's St. Patrick's Day Page Pak (changed to blue).
