My kindergarten
daughter received a homework assignment of finding patterns in the
world around her.
Merriam
Webster defines pattern as "an artistic, musical,
literary, or mechanical design or form." We were
thrilled to find they were everywhere we turned! There were the ordered patterns of the street lights,
crackled paint on an old barn, marble tiles on the floor. In nature we found the
beautiful petals
on a flower and a three leaf clover. Sometimes patterns are a
bit more random, such as the grass or the clouds in the sky.
Bringing
patterns to your scrapbook page is nearly as natural! There are
a multitude
to choose from, such as polka dots, stripes, florals,
textures, paisleys,
argyles, fleurs, word art papers...! Some are big and bold;
some are petite and subtle. It can seem overwhelming,
but don't be afraid of enjoying all they can bring to your digital
artwork. Let us help by using our coordinating
Page Paks, which take all of the guesswork out of the equation. This month's featured kit, "In My Pocket,"
has an eclectic assortment of patterns that flow
together seamlessly! In
Building Blocks see a sampling of other
paper combos available at CottageArts.net. Beth's
Idea Corner shares how to combine papers for simple cards. And,
the
Digital Tip
section
demonstrates modifying the scale of patterns, making custom shapes
out of patterned papers, and changing colors.
