A basic way to use the black scallop edge is to simply drag it on top of any paper to give the appearance that the other paper is scallop cut and is lying on top of a black piece of cardstock.
We are going
to take it one step further, as Doris shows above, and fill the scallop edge with another background paper. Instructions are in Adobe Photoshop Elements. Photoshop is almost identical.
-
To use the
Scallop Edge Shape in this way, open the
Scallop Edge file.
- Open the background paper you would like to fill the shape with. Doris used the Definitions Paper from the Scarlet Memoirs Page Pak.
- Drag the Scallop Edge on top of the paper file.
- Click on the Scallop Edge layer. Ctrl-Click (Mac: Option-Click) with the mouse in the layer palette to Select the shape.
- Click on the paper layer in the layer palette. With the Scallop Shape still selected (marching ants appear around the outside of the shape), select Edit>Copy.
- Select Edit>Paste. This will create a new layer of the scallop shape using the definition paper.
- Delete the paper and black scallop edge layers by dragging them to the Trash Can and continue creating your layout.
- Because
the scallop shape is on a separate layer,
you can tuck elements under it, use a grunge brush to
erase parts of it, or leave it as
it is for a fun border!
The
Scallop Edge can also be a great
frame for a photo!
