What is Hybrid Scrapbooking?

Hybrid scrapbooking is the buzz word in the industry today, and is simply a combination of traditional and digital techniques. Beth made a fun folded portfolio...below are the simple instructions:

Hybrid Photo Portfolio

This useful and decorative portfolio unfolds to reveal a pocket that is perfectly suited for storing favorite photos or special memorabilia. It’s sturdy enough to stand on its own, making it a lovely desk or mantel accent.

Instructions
Supplies:

Adobe Photoshop Elements 5
Butterfly Wings Page Pak
Butterfly Wings Element Pak (coming to the store later today)
Simply Vintage CD (metal keys)
Twine
Glue
Hinges

1. Cut the portfolio shape from cardstock at any size you desire. Folded, finished sample measures 7¼”x 5¼“. Leave approximately 2” additional at right side to fold over or less if your portfolio is smaller. Fold flap over front.

2. Open the portfolio exposing the interior panel for pocket. Cut a piece of paper ¼” smaller than inside panel of decorative, printed paper. Center and adhere a decorated rectangle strip (as pocket) with doubled sided tape leaving center free for photos to fit inside.

3. Open Photoshop Elements. Layer butterflies and stitching on Yellow Fleur paper. Size or crop to desired print size (sample crop size is 3.75"x6"). Print coordinating patterned papers and elements to decorate front of portfolio. The sample includes butterflies and “beloved” from the Butterfly Wings 3 Page Pak, and plum key set from the Simply Vintage CD. The papers were all printed from the Butterfly Wings 3 Page Pak.

4. Optional - before adhering your pieces together, directly brush each piece with a distress ink pad to give the edges that worn look. This also draws the eye toward the elements rather than the stark, raw edges of the papers.

5. Add some sort of hooks to front, create tag with keys by digitally placing keys on paper layer before printing. Cut to shape. Attach with string to hooks. Add trim of old lace with liquid glue.
