When and why did you start digital scrapbooking?

I got into doing digital scrapbooking more exclusively about 1998. I even started a club on Yahoo for computer scrappers, since I felt as if I were alone in the world of digital scrapbooking. Every time I found someone else doing what I was doing, I was thrilled. I had started digital scrapbooking because of the ease and the instant gratification of it.

Is there anything in your background that helped you?

I had been using computers at work and hubby has always had home computers since the very first little Radio Shack TRS-80 back in the 1970's.

Do you use tutorials or do you just go by instinct?

I usually just go by instinct or curiosity...wonder what would happen if I did this or pushed this button or used this effect...

What's the most meaningful layout you've ever created?

I like the layouts that I've created about my parents and the "Don't Let Me Forget" layout created about Alzheimer's.

What do you most hope to share with others through your scrapbooking?

I love sharing my joy of this hobby and my passion for life. I love incorporating design, photography and poetry all into one page.

Where do you get inspiration?

I get inspiration from life and everything around me. A word may trigger a poem, a thought and a layout. I can look out of an airplane window and find a background page in the clouds or in the layout of the land below.

What is your favorite aspect of scrapbooking?

I especially love the journaling and the photography but it all appeals to me. I love to start out with a blank page and watch it turn into something unique and beautiful.

Do you prefer to do single layouts or groups (albums)?

I love to do single pages or layouts. But they all turn into albums whether they start out as a single thought or a theme..

First the picture or the layout?

The picture comes first but as an empty nester my photos now usually follow a theme of nature, geography, travel or adult friends.

Do you take film or digital photos or both?

For the last year I have only taken digital photos with my Digital Rebel, although I do love 35mm.

What is your favorite photography tip?

Get in close and fill the frame. Take lots of shots and experiment.

What do you most want to improve about your photography?

I need to learn more and more about my camera and about using lighting to enhance and improve portraits.

Do you print your layouts? What size? What printer (if applicable)?

I print out some and create some just to send via email or for articles which I just save on disk.

 Do your kids scrap too?

My daughter is in denial about being a scrapper. She has been known to create "photo layout pages."

How long does it take you to make a layout?

It depends on whether I'm hot on the heels of the discovery of something wonderful or doing a simple blocked page.

How does your family feel about your digital scrapbooking?

They love it and encourage it and even share it with their friends. My husband and daughter both took the SS Digital Issue to work to share with their co-workers.
