Traditional Paper Scrapbooking in just Minutes using our Products!
This is the second article in a series by Beth Ervin, paper artist and design team member, to show us how we can create simply gorgeous pages in just minutes. This month we add a few more techniques, and next month we will step it up even more, while keeping it quick!

See the first article here

The more a scrapbooker uses their imagination, the more the pages become expressions of themselves. I have chosen a monochromatic theme to spark my imagination as a 20 minute project. Just about any subject matter or paper you choose will work for this simple layout idea. Use your senses to touch, see, hear your subject matter and have fun creating your own unique design. Remember there are very few rules in scrapbooking, so we are truly only limited by our own imaginations.

Step One...
Choose a piece of solid cardstock. Using this as a guide, select a coordinating paper from our product line (I chose Snowflakes12 from Simply Vacations). Print paper. Remember that you can easily change the color of any of our papers in your image editor, before printing.  See our tutorials page for step-by-step instructions. Tear printed paper into two sections forming a horizontal "V".  Adhere large photo to center of cardstock and place your two sections over the top.  I chose to add stitching with white thread, but this is certainly not a necessity.

Step Two...
Choose and print an AlphaSet (the Crackled Tile AlphaSet is very easy to cut) for your main title. Choose a frame (Denim Frame from Simply Vacations) for any other journaling you may want and a frame for a small photo. I used the metal tag from Simply Fun and simply cut out the center to frame my small photo, then added my own fibers.

Step Three...

Cut out one piece of the excess printed paper to reinforce your theme and attach to large photo.

Using a monochromatic scheme always makes for a quick and easy layout. Try these other quick and easy timesaving tips when time is of the essence (as it usually is for most of us)! First and foremost, a small craft snip scissor is the best tool you can invest in; cutting can be tedious without a scissor that fits into sharp corners! Cutter Bee or Fiskars are the two I have found work best. Next, choose a CottageArts.net AlphaSet with clean-cut lines as a time saver, if you are creating traditional layouts. The Crackled Tile AlphaSet and Alpha Tags sets are two easy-to-cut sets CottageArts.net offers. Lastly, choose a theme for your layout and keep it clean and simple; sometimes all you need is a title to complete a wonderfully simple page.

Here's another example using this technique:
