We cook a festive dinner
And set a fancy table
Folks come from near and far
As many as are able.

Good food and pleasant chatter
Help us to celebrate Thanksgiving
But they are  just a part
The real Thanksgiving for us all
Can only be found within our heart.

Turkey Tragedy

It started out like an ordinary day
With kinfolks coming to visit and play
But before the dinner was on the table
To divert an incident, I was not able.

The platter was piled high with turkey and dressing
And hubby was offering the Thanksgiving blessing
When a terrible accident I could not avert
And we had to skip dinner and go right to desert!

I tripped on the dog
And out flew our dinner
So now after this holiday
We will all be much thinner.

I caused a world catastrophe
Of which I hate to speak
It was the downfall of Turkey
The breaking up of China
And the overflow of  'Grease!'
