Each Day is Precious

Each Day is Precious
I've said it before
For we never know
What life holds in store.

We store up our memories
Like jewels in a chest
And we mull over and over
The ones we like best.

But if for some reason
Before God calls us home
We lose that connection
And those memories are gone...

It is the greatest blessing
When our memories aren't clear
For those who love us to remind us
Of  those things we held dear.

You may see the light
In our faces as you speak
Or the little bits of teardrop
Sliding down our cheek.

And then you will know 
That you've helped us so much
By each gentle reminder
And a heart you have touched.

Reach out to others
And help them to see
Just how precious and wonderful
A memory can be!

Family Get Together

When the family gets together
It is such a happy time.
It makes me really happy
Just to think that they are mine!

Cousins, uncles, aunts and in-laws
Relatives by the score
It doesn't matter how many come
There's always room for more!

And the cameras start  to flash
At every cute thing a baby does
And about the latest teenage craze
The relatives are all abuzz.

We try to get them all together
To get a photo of the group
Some kid is sure to start to cry
And some kid's got the croup!

Just when we think we have the pose
That will go on next year's Christmas card
We are distracted by the door bell ringing
Or the dogs  barking out in the yard.

So the photos may be fuzzy
With a few eyes closed and such
But the memories of those special times
Our hearts will always touch!

With old friends
Warm our hearts and cheer us
And we are blessed with happiness
When we have good friends near us.
