Cindi's Biography

G e t t i n g   t o   K n o w   C i n d i  . . . .

When and why did you start digital scrapbooking?

I started a few years ago.  I had been checking out scrapbook sites on the Internet and saw something Thena had done.  I noticed she was a DTM for CottageArts.net and went to their site. I entered the contest they had and was chosen as a runner-up.  I have been hooked every since...

Is there anything in your background that helped you?

I was taking a digital photography class and was introduced to Adobe Photoshop.  This is what I use to make most of my pages.

Do you use tutorials or do you just go by instinct?

I use Michelle’s book a great deal, which even helps me with Photoshop, and I love learning all the cool things Paint Shop Pro can do.  I belong to several groups and we create things to share and that has helped me out a lot in learning how to improve my skills.

What's the most meaningful layout you've ever created?

I have so many pages, but I think my most meaningful one is the one I made of my son when he had to go to Iraq.  I did an album for him from the time he went into the Army until the day he came home from Iraq.  Making this album for him is what kept my mind focused on him, and not the fact that he was away at war.

What do you most hope to share with others through your scrapbooking?

The love of family and the memories you can share with all of them by putting their pictures into stories on a layout.

Where do you get inspiration?

From the products I use and from my family.  My grandsons are my main inspiration to scrapbook their lives for them, so they have something to look back on when they are older.

What is your favorite aspect of scrapbooking?

I love the photography and matching the color and embellishments to create a story.

Do you prefer to do single layouts or groups (albums)?

I really enjoy both.  Single layouts are quicker, of course, but albums can tell such a bigger story.

First the picture or the layout?

Usually the picture first.

Do you take film or digital photos or both?

Mostly digital photos.  On very special occasions I use both a film camera and digital camera.

What is your favorite photography tip?

You can never take too many photos.

What do you most want to improve about your photography?

I want to learn how to use different filters for different effects.

Do you print your layouts?

Yes, I have albums and some framed for my walls.

What size?  What printer?

12x12; I have the HP Deskjet 9300.

 Do your kids scrap too?

My boys don't, but their wives do.  I have finally gotten them into digital scrapping.

How long does it take you to make a layout?

Depends on if I am using a Scrapover Template or building a layout from scratch with our papers and elements.  I would say 15 minutes at the most.  So, you could say I am efficient!

How does your family feel about your digital scrapbooking?

They love it and are very proud of me for belonging to CottageArts as a DTM.  I have made scrapbooks for everyone in my family for one reason or another.  They know it is a true passion for me and encourage me all the time with praise and support of my work.
