Quick Tip:
Thinking outside of the box...
Whenever
you are thumbing through magazines for inspiration on your layouts,
inevitably, there will be an element that you love but don't have on
hand. Why make an extra trip to the scrapbook store and spend more
money than you intended? Chances are you already have an element on
your Simply Digital CDs or downloadable Page Paks that can quickly be transformed
with a bit of imagination.
The first step is getting to
know exactly what is on your CDs and Page Paks. Start by printing your
thumbnails and storing them in an easily accessible folder or binder.
A quick glance through your embellishments will most certainly produce
an idea for element transformation. Most of our Mega CDs come
with printable image catalogs in PDF format.
Once you have found the
perfect element to transform, go back through your thumbnails and
match existing elements to add and enhance, making the transformation
more realistic. For example, on this layout, I chose the rock and
eyelets to create the artist palette and then added the existing
paintbrush to accentuate.
Element transformation has
become a personal challenge for me, and I find there is almost nothing
that can't be duplicated on either traditional or digital layouts
using Simply Digital products. Pat yourself on the back when you make
an element transformation. Not only have you saved money, but you have
stretched and challenged your imagination, while adding personal flair to
your layout!
See below for how I turned a water
faucet into a cross and eyelets and word nugget into a flower stem!
